Isotopica has been broadcasting weekly for several years on Resonance 104.4FM London, and is composed as a radiophonic stream of consciousness, both street-wise and academic, high and post-modern, playful and entertaining, thoughtful yet barbed.
The format remains fluid, changing from week to week, from field recording, studio Compositions, Generation, Repetition, Avant Guard and New Music. Our broadcasts evoke the vanishing magic of the radio dial, of the spaces and noises between the stations. We work with artists from multiple disciplines and from around the world, yet mostly with a London focus. Our youngest collaborator so far, has been 3,1/4, and the oldest our regular Dudley Sutton, a vital 87-year-old. In 2017, Isotopica marked the centenary of the October Revolution with SPECTRE a live 12-hour broadcast of the Communist Manifesto in Morse Code,** performed as solo improvisation on Resonance Extra. Resonance FM has over **550,000 on-line visitors in 176 countries listened to our broadcasts in 2017, and half a million more on FM and DAB in London**. 46% of our listeners (71% of whom are under the age of 45) have been with us for five years or more.
There’s a whole heap of madness going on in most people’s minds, most of the time, isn’t there? Unlike everyone else, however, artist Simon Tyszko has the good sense to set it free, run with it, and allow his wildest thoughts to become touchable. Like the full-sized Dakota airplane wing installed in his flat on the fifth floor of a Fulham council estate. Or his work in cocaine, Absolute Hypocrisy, that made a criminal of the buyer – the ‘deal’ taking place in a Parisian hotel room. His practice is an ode to what-if, a punk-prayer to the possible. His regular radio show, isotopica, is a cornucopia of his most recent explorations in tangibility – some of the best bits that have made it from mind to airwaves. So come join in, tweet and listen to isotopica on resonance 104.4fm and now on resonance extra dab
